When reviewing language programs it is important to think about what purpose individuals intend to use their learned language for. In many cases people must learn a second language to get a credential or graduate from school. In some cases, individuals have taken courses in a specific language, only to find when they are expected to converse in that language that they are incapable of using the basic skills required to speak the language intelligently. This is especially true with German, a language that can be very difficult to master for the average English speaker.

In researching available programs it was found that most provide some type of audio program that is intended to give people the opportunity to learn the program on their own. Unfortunately, many of the programs do not begin with the assumption that most people are not self-motivated when it comes to learning a second language and begin the process with some trepidation. It is therefore imperative that a language program offered over an internet site be one that provides more than just the rudimentary training programs that are found at most educational environments. A problem with most of the programs is that they do not provide a true interactive system that begins on the premise that the person buying the program does not have any of the basics in place to speak or read the language. The Rocket German program was found to have the type of structure that provides the motivation and direction that makes learning German as a second language quite easy.

One of the ways that people learn is to use phrases, words, and concepts in everyday situations. Many of the language programs offered do not provide a full range of everyday situations that provide a student the opportunity to become comfortable with the structure of a language. Rocket German however, does provide this opportunity by literally walking the student through the country of Germany and introducing the language in situations that will really happen when they are living or vacationing there. This provides a combined benefit for the student. They learn German in the comfort of their home with the help of German language speakers who take them on a journey through their country and teach them how to interact with other German speakers in a natural way. For a student who must learn a second language the Rocket German program not only teaches the basics of the language, but also the more complex phrases and structure that will allow the student to successfully pass a second language examination and be able to talk to other German speakers.
